From prompt to model

Models that took hours now take minutes.

Financial models are built with AI now - the capability is too good to ignore. Brief the agent the way you'd brief an associate. It plans the work, builds the model, and shows you every change before it lands.

1 The prompt
The actual prompt typed into Modeloptic: forecast an LBO at 10x EBITDA with senior debt, a seller note, rolled equity, and an excess cash sweep
2 The agent's plan
The agent's live task list: enable corporate transactions, create the LBO transaction, build entry, sources and uses, exit and returns, configure debt and equity mechanics, and surface the completed schedules
3 The model it built

Why it works

Excel plug-ins aren't enough.

They force LLMs to manage all of the cell-by-cell complexity of an Excel file. Modeloptic unlocks AI agent capability by letting them operate at a higher level.

Remove Wasted Complexity

Modeloptic has its own language for defining financial models, which makes our AI agents highly effective.

Auditability

See every individual change made to your model, who made it and when, and step backward or forward in time at will.

Structure & Validation

If a model has unset or incoherent settings, broken references, or other obvious problems, Modeloptic surfaces these issues.

Historical Data Management

Any company that's started operating must integrate actuals into the model. Modeloptic provides tooling for this to ensure robustness.

User Access & Coordination

Modeloptic provides a single source of truth for every model your team is working on, and lets you easily control who can access each of them.

Embedded Expertise

We provide a library of gold-standard building blocks — revenue builds, debt sweeps, deferred taxes, transaction mechanics — so the agent looks up the right pattern instead of inventing one from scratch.

Review and control

Full visibility into every aspect of your model.

The agent's work is visible while it runs, and all changes are itemized when it finishes. Review its work, adjust if needed, accept the changes when ready, and reverse them any time. And the final audit surface can still be Excel.

Before

A plan and visible progress

The agent lays out the tasks for the assignment and shows its progress as it works through them, so you know what it is doing and why.

After

Every action, itemized

Each run ends with a summary and the full list of individual actions: Settings changed, accounts added, logic rows created, values set. Preview the result in isolation or apply it to the instance.

Always

Validation, change log, rollback

Validation errors are listed by location; clicking one takes you to the problem. Every save records who, when, and what, and any prior version is one click away.

Review the Agent's Changes
The agent's summary of changes after importing historicals, with tabs for all 118 changes grouped by sub-task and a table listing each individual action
The agent summarizes what it did, then lists all individual actions it took.
Model Save History & Change Log
Modeloptic's Model Save History and Change Log showing who saved, when, each individual action with detail, and an Apply Rollback button
Every save records who and when; open one to see each action and roll back to it.

The final audit surface is still Excel.

Modeloptic doesn't ask your team, your lender, or your IC to abandon the format they already trust. Generate a fully functional copy of the model in Excel any time - sources and uses, debt schedules, returns, all with live formulas - and audit, modify, and share it like any other model.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Modeloptic an Excel plug-in?
No. It is a purpose-built financial modeling environment with its own model logic, validation, change history, permissions, and AI agent. Excel is an optional output: Generate a fully functional version of the model with live formulas in Excel at any time, and keep using Excel in your workflow where that makes sense.
Does the Excel export really contain formulas?
Yes. It is a fully functional copy of the model with all formulas wired up, as a top-tier modeler would have built it by hand - not hardcoded values. Download the walkthrough model and click through the debt schedule, sources and uses, and returns.
What kinds of models can it build?
Three-statement operating models with driver-based revenue builds; transaction and LBO models with sources and uses, debt schedules, cash sweeps, balance sheet adjustments, and IRR and MOIC sensitivities; DCFs; multiple operating and acquisition cases; and follow-on transactions such as dividend recaps and bolt-ons. If you have a specific structure in mind you want to run by us, please reach out.
How reliable is the AI agent?
In the SaaS LBO walkthrough, each of the three steps produced identical values in 10 of 10 runs; the LBO step varied in layout and labeling (for example, whether to break out non-debt financing cash flows in a separate section). AI is still fallible though, which is why every run ends with a summary and an itemized list of actions you can preview before applying, and why the change log lets you roll back.
What inputs does it take?
Historical financials and operating metrics as xlsx, csv, docx, or pdf files; accounting-system integrations (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct) for ongoing updates; and public-company data via downloaded files.
Can I see and undo what the agent changed?
Yes. The agent shows its plan and progress while it works, then reports a summary and the full list of individual actions. You can preview the result in an isolated environment or apply it. Every save is recorded in the change log with who, when, and what, and you can roll back to any prior save.
What happens to my data?
Your files, models, and outputs are used to provide the service to you and nothing else. AI providers are used through their commercial APIs, whose terms exclude customer data from model training, and we do not opt into any training or retention programs. Access is enforced per company and per user, and we follow modern industry best practices for data security.
What does the free trial include?
Seven days with one company and 20 agent prompts, with full access to the modeling agent and Excel export. No credit card is required. When the trial expires, the instance becomes view-only.
Can my whole firm sign up?
Yes. Custom plans cover more companies, higher prompt volume, dedicated onboarding, and priority support. Schedule a call and we will scope it with you.
What is the commitment?
Month-to-month. Cancel anytime.
Can I model public companies?
Yes, using downloaded filings and data files as inputs. The product is currently tuned more for private-company modeling; if public-company workflows are central for you, tell us which capabilities would make it a fit.
What about recurring FP&A - budgets, reporting, variance?
Modeloptic FP&A is a dedicated workflow for connected historicals, recurring forecasts, variance analysis, and reporting, and it is the natural home for a deal model after close. Explore Modeloptic FP&A →
